Data security fears: A fall out of outsourcing?

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) and Vormetric, which provides security solutions pointed to the findings of a survey of attendees at the Outsourcing World Summit and revealed the growing concerns over data security in outsourcing.

The Florida Summit held on the 20th of February was the 18th of it's kind and re-emphasized the importance of outsourcing in today's scenario as reflected from the large number of attendees. Vormetric chairs the IAOP's Data Security Chapter and the concerns over the threat of data security was shared by 90% of the respondents in a survey of 100 attendees. There was prevailing confusion as well over the accountability factor as to whether the responsibility lies with the provider or the customer. This debate will continue for times to come, but the data security concerns very much exist. Black Enterprise reports:

The industry's elite, including the global membership of the IAOP gathered to share knowledge, conduct professional learning activities, and strengthen relationships. Last week's conference was standing room only and its attendance shattered previous Outsourcing World Summit records, reflecting the current surge of outsourcing activities in today's marketplace. Attendance was a veritable who's who of today's outsourcing players, with representatives from the following companies exhibiting in attendance: Johnson & Johnson, Bell Canada, Sara Lee, Microsoft, Proctor & Gamble, Accenture, HP, Wipro, Janus Associates, Booz Allen Hamilton, Pitney Bowes, Boeing, and more.
