Europe and UK – emerging markets

After US, Indian BPOs have realized that in Europe and UK lies the next big outsourcing opportunity. Right steps into the market by Indian companies can mean that the country (India) can post a growth of over 40 per cent in the outsourcing sector.

Details on the potential markets were being discussed at the India Leadership Forum- Nasscom 2006. Various industry head honchos like N Chandrashekaran of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), NIIT CEO Arvind Thankur, Nasscom President Kiran KArnik and Senior Analyst Dominique Raviart of Ovam were present at the forum.

UK and European markets has to be tapped by the Indian majors by harnessing local talents to faucet domestic markets and de-risk the revenue model by reducing their dependence on one geographical region. This type of approach becomes more crucial because of the fact that the industry’s focus is not only the English speaking nations.

Business Standard reports the complete viewpoints of Indian industry leaders.

Nasscom President Kiran Karnik said:

UK is one of the major destinations, not only as a potential market but as a development centre. The industry trend in the recent years is expansion of the Indian IT industry’s presence from beyond traditional destinations to newer geographies.
