Disney has recently announced the signing of a $730 million dollar outsourcing deal with IBM. The decision to outsource follows the recommendations of an 18-month in-house technology review conducted by Disney. Under the contract, IBM will be tasked with restructuring and maintaining Disney's IT infrastructure. It is speculated that the company's current technology is housed on three mainframes and some 3,700 UNIX based mid-range servers. The technology will be maintained partially on site at Disney facilities, as well as at the IBM centre located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. vnunet.com Reports:
IBM spokesman John Buscemi says that his company is going to be responsible for the ongoing development and support of key Disney software applications, including an SAP implementation, and 90 legacy applications from its theme park operations.
