The Condition of Offshoring Centers

There exists a persistent myth, maybe harkening back to images of Kathy Gifford's sweatshops from years past, that offshore outsourcing firms are places of drudgery, monotony, and even a touch of abuse. Protectionist politics plays into these perceptions, arguing that offshoring is merely eliminating domestic jobs so that corporations can abuse foreign labor.  What first world corporate giants are finding, however, is that once they visit firms like Wipro of India, their perception is radically changed for the positive.  Financial Times Reports:

Another myth is shattered by a stroll around the modern campus-style headquarters in Bangalore of companies such as Wipro and Infosys, where corporate customers' global information networks are managed round the clock from Nasa-like control rooms. If these are sweatshops, the Ritz hotel is a doss-house.
